GCET 2019 - Goa Common Entrance Test

Goa Common Entrance Test (Goa CET) exam is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Goa State (DTE Goa) for admissions to first year of professional degree courses like Engineering and Pharmacy courses offered by colleges located in Goa.

Going forward, admission into Nursing and other allied courses which include BPT, BOT, BOpt, BScMIT, BScAT, BSc Nursing, offered by colleges located in Goa will be made through NEET UG

Please note that admissions to degree course in Architecture will be on the basis of NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture). 

GCET 2019 application process is likely to commence from September. However, the detailed exam schedule will be announced in due time. 

GCET 2018 exam results were declared on May 14 on the official website of DTE - Goa. The authorities have also released GCET answer keys here along with the written exam results. 

GCET 2019 Process

The below enlisted steps will guide you through the complete admission process at various colleges in Goa through GCET. 

Step 1: Fill GCET 2019 Application Form

  • At this stage, the candidates will have to fill GCET 2019 application forms. The forms are available online on the official website of Directorate of Technical Education - Goa
  • Candidates seeking admission are required to download and take a print out of GCET 2019 prospectus available on the official website of the DTE – Goa
  • Candidates can also obtain the application form from the Application Reception centre of DTE Goa

Step 2: Download GCET 2019 Admit Cards

  • The GCET 2019 admit cards will be made available on the official website for downloads. Candidates will need their email address and the full name in order to download the admit card.
  • GCET admit card is an important document having variety of information. We advise to preserve the admit cards until the admission process is successfully conducted

Step 3: Appear for GCET 2019 Entrance Test

  • Students need to appear for GCET 2019 entrance exam as per the schedule mentioned in gcet important date section
  • Aspirants are advised to reach the exam centre at least an hour before commencement of the exam

Step 4: Check GCET 2019 Exam Result

  • Authorities at DTE - Goa will be declaring the results for GCET 2019 entrance exams on their official website
  • Candidates shall check their GCET 2019 results once announced, by simply submitting their application number and date of birth on the official website

GCET Pattern 2019

GCET 2019 is based on the syllabus of Class 12 of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. The exam encompasses questions from three subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Each subject has 75 questions that needs to be answered in two hours. For each correct answer, aspirants are awarded one mark each. However, there is no negative marking for multiple or wrong answers.

The GCET 2019 Exam Pattern provide the aspirants with the key insights into the type and total number of questions asked, total time allotted to take the test, subjects covered, syllabus, and the marking scheme of the entrance test. Candidates appearing in GCET 2019 examination can benefit immensely and avoid confusion on exam day by getting familiar with the GCET 2019 exam pattern. Preparation for the entrance test can go better if candidates are clear and have an in-depth knowledge of how the GCET 2019 Exam Pattern will be.

Each correct response carries one mark, while there is no negative marking for wrong/ multiple answers.

The candidates are required to mark their responses in Objective Response Sheets (ORS), which acts as an answer sheet. So it is also important to read the instructions printed on the OMR sheet carefully and get familiar with the pattern beforehand.

GCET 2019 Application Fee

The candidates need to get a DD of Rs.1800 prepared in favor of "Director of Technical Education" drawn on any schedule bank payable at Panaji branch against the application fee of GCET 2019. The candidates must also note that they should write their name, mobile number, address and other details on the back side of the DD.

Note: The candidates must also take a copy of the DD for their reference.

How to fill GCET Application Form 2019?

  • Download GCET 2019 Application Form (Form A) from the application link which will be made available on the official website. Then take a print out to preserve for future references.
  • Enter all required particulars like Personal details, details related to category of the candidates, etc.
  • Affix a recent color photograph on the GCET 2019 application form.
  • The candidates must note that the photograph is taken not more than 3 months prior to the date of admission.
  • Enclose two additional photographs with the GCET 2019 application form
  • Enter the complete postal address, including the postal code, telephone/contact number. The Telephone number must be entered by with area code in brackets
  • Check your Subject-Codes and encircle them
  • Mention your centre code and name; choose your GCET  2019 exam centre
  • Enter details related to DD like DD number, Bank Name and Date on which it was issued.
  • Candidates and their parents must sign at the designated place in the form.

GCET 2019 application submission

After filling the application form of Goa CET 2019 (GCET), candidates will have to personally submit the application form along with the other required documents at the following addresses,

“Ravindra Bhavan, Margao (For South Goa District GCET Exam Centres, including Ponda)

Directorate of Technical Education, Porvorim (For North Goa District GCET Exam Centres)”

Documents included along with GCET application form 2019?

  • 3 passport size photographs. The photographs should not be taken more than 3 months before filling the application form.
  • Copy of SSCE Passing Certificate
  • Copy of class XII Passing certificate
  • DD for the Application Fees

Note: Candidates have to submit the application form of GCET 2019 in person. They will also have to collect GCET 2019 admit card in person.

GCET 2019 Eligibility

Candidates applying for admission to the courses offered in the state through GCET will have to comply with the following eligibility norms. 

Nationality:

  • Candidates should be an Indian National
  • Non-resident Indians holding Indian passport may also apply for seats reserved under NRI category.
  • Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) /Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are also considered eligible for admissions to seats under NRI Category.
  • Foreign Nationals must apply to Govt. of India.

Valid score:

  • Aspirants must have appeared and obtained valid score in GCET conducted for the year of admission. GCET score of the previous year/s is not considered valid.
  • For Architecture, aspirant must have appeared and obtained valid score at NATA conducted by Council of Architecture.

Qualifying Examination & Minimum Marks:

  • Candidates should have cleared the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Goa Board or an examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or any other examination equivalent to the H.S.S.C.examination of Goa Board.
  • They must also have acquired the minimum percentage of marks in the specific subjects.

First Year B.E.:

  • Aspirants should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science /Biology, and secured not less than 45% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only).
  • Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects and secured at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% aggregate marks for applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC).

OR

  • 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks.

OR

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.
  • Applicants scoring minimum 80/200 at NATA are eligible for admission to B.Arch.,provided NATA score is obtained by answering NATA exam before last date of submission of admission form.

Kashmiri Migrants only in Engineering Courses:

  • The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology and secured not less than 45% marks in the subjects of Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology.


Diploma/BSc Degree holder:

  • Candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering /B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics as a subject at Std XIIth , with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC), were eligible for admission to First Year of Engineering Degree Courses, subject to vacancies in First Year, after vacancies at Lateral Entry into Direct Second Year are exhausted.
  • The merit list of such candidates are prepared on the basis of aggregate marks scored at qualifying exam.

Directorate of Technical Education Goa is responsible for the release of GCET 2019 exam syllabus. This will give candidates an idea about the topics covered in GCET 2019 question paper.

Exam syllabus is a general guide as prescribed by the exam conducting body. The aim is to give the candidates an idea about the topics covered in the entrance examination.
