The third batch of IITBWUStL Research and Educat ion Academy’s Executive MBA (EMBA) commenced on July 12, 2017. A collaboration between IIT-Bombay and the Washington University in St Louis, the program is a much sought-after joint degree course, and is the first-of-its kind in India.
The inaugural function was attended by power names from business and academia. Chief guest Yogi Sriram, senior vice-president, Corporate HR, Larsen & Toubro, applauded the course, saying, “The program offered by IITBombay and Washington University in St Louis is ideal for leaders wanting to succeed in ever-changing business cycles and complexities.”
Professor Devang Khakhar (director, IIT Bombay), Professor Shiv Ganesh Bhargava (HoD, Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay), and Professor Kurt Dirks, (Olin Business School, Washington University in St Louis) too addressed the gathering. Also present, were famous alumni of IIT-Bombay.
EMBA has a global perspective and delivers superior and highly-relevant business education for senior executives, thereby enhancing managerial competence.
Drawing on the expertise of top faculty from both institutions, as well as business veterans, the program aims to produce global leaders. The 18-month course also minimally disrupts the lives of busy professionals, with only four continuous contact days required each month.
The last three modules, held in the US, facilitate firsthand experience of global industry interactions. The program, where the average work experience is 15 years, is ideal for mid to senior executives who would like to move from domain expertise to a leadership role. About 25 per cent of the class comprises women.
