Eleven of the two lakh candidates who took CAT 2018 for entry to premier IIMs have made it to the blue-chip 100 percentilers’ club. All of them are male engineers, unlike last year when two girls and three non-engineers bagged the perfect score. In probably a first, this time, one of the four transgender exam takers received a call from IIM-Calcutta; IIMKozhikode has shortlisted two transgender candidates.
Maharashtra holds the distinction of having the largest cohort of all-India CAT 2018 toppers, with seven of them scoring 100 percentile. At least three of them are from Mumbai and two from Thane. One of the candidates from the city, Jagesh Golwala, is a final-year student from IIT-Bombay, while Rounak Mazumdar, an IIT-Kanpur alumnus, is from Thane.
Amit Bikram and Rickshesh Manchanda are among those who aced CAT from the state. Manchanda, an IIT-Delhi passout working for a banking firm in Pune, didn’t attend any coaching institute. Three others, including Patrick D’Souza and Suneet Khumbat, are coaching class faculty who took CAT to understand its design and pattern.
