Know your syllabus

Knowing your syllabus is the thumb rule for any exam preparation. Before starting preparation keep your class 10 English syllabus ready and go through it thoroughly. This will help you to have a hand on the subject. And create a timetable for exam preparation. While creating it mention how much time would be required to cover each topic and divide it accordingly.

Read as much as you can. The more you read the better you score for section A - Reading skills. As you know, section A will have two reading passages to test your reading skills and vocabulary. To score well, students should read at least four passages daily. Keep reading and get high scores for section A.

Practice writing

Section B of CBSE class 10 English syllabus is Writing and Grammar. To get good scores for this part, you should practice writing notices, essays, articles, advertisements, etc. Referring to sample letters and news articles would help you to cover this section. Also, rewrite some articles to improve your grammar.

Refer to prescribed books

Section C of the syllabus is Literature textbooks. To crack this section, students are advised to the prescribed books — BEEHIVE (Textbook for class IX), MOMENTS (Supplementary Reader for Class IX) and Words and Expressions (I, Workbook). Practising on the previous year English question papers will also be back support for the preparation.

Keep your study place organised

Study place plays a vital role in exam preparation. You should ensure that your study space has sufficient light and remove all the things that can distract you from studying. Also, make sure that you have enough space to keep your books and study materials on the table.
