UPTET exam pattern and marking scheme 2019

Uttar Pradesh's Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2019 will be held on December 22, 2019. The candidates who want to become a teacher in primary schools (Classes I to V) or middle schools (Classes VI to VIII) in Uttar Pradesh need to clear TET exam.

The Paper I test is conducted for Primary Teachers while those who want to become Middle School teachers need qualify Paper II test. Candidates who want to teach from Classes I to VIII can take both the papers of the UPTET exam.

UPTET 2019 Paper I and Paper II Format: All you need to know

Exam Timing: The UPTET 2019 exam will be held on December 22, 2019, in two shifts. The UPTET Paper I test will be held in morning and UPTET Paper II test will be conducted in evening shift.

Exam Mode: The UPTET exam is still conducted in the pen-and-paper mode.

Paper Pattern: UPTET Paper I and Paper II have almost the same format. There are a total of 150 questions in each paper. The UPTET exam includes objective questions and each question carries one mark. There is no negative marking in the paper.

The total duration of exam is two hours or 120 minutes, which means, a candidate has about 48 seconds to solve one question. If a candidate spends 10 minutes for reading the instructions and checking out the paper and 5 minutes for checking out the answers after completing the paper, he/she will get about 42 seconds to solve each question. Hence, time management is very important in UPTET exam.

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy - 30 questions
  2. Language I (Hindi) - 30 questions
  3. Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit) - 30 questions
  4. Mathematics - 30 questions
  5. Environmental Studies (EVS) - 30 questions

Paper II question paper sections

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy - 30 questions
  2. Language I (Hindi) - 30 questions
  3. Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit) - 30 questions
  4. Mathematics & Science OR Social Studies - 60 questions

UPTET cut off marks to qualify the exam

60% for General category students (minimum 90 marks out of a total of 150 marks)

55% for SC, ST, and OBC category students (minimum 83 marks out of a total of 150 marks).

Note: The actual UPTET cutoffs depend on the number of vacancies and the number of candidates applying for the exam.
