Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is the Deemed University established by the Department of Space (DOS), Government of India. IIST conducts exam for the admission process for post-graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral programmes. IIST conducts the examination for engineering courses in different steams.

IIST also provides the dual degree courses.

  • 4-Year B.Tech. ( Aerospace Engineering )
  • 4-Year B.Tech. ( Avionics )
  • 5-Year Dual Degree (B.Tech. + Master of Science/Master of Technology) 

The 5-year Dual Degree programme leads to B.Tech. degree in Engineering Physics and any of the following Post-Graduate degree specializations:

  • Master of Science (Astronomy & Astrophysics) 
  • Master of Technology (Earth System Science)
  • Master of Science (Solid State Physics) 
  • Master of Technology (Optical Engineering) (There is no exit option at the end of four years).

Reservation of Seats

Candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved based on relaxed criteria as per applicable rules of the Government of India. The categories included are

Eligibility Criteria

Here we are providing the eligibility criteria for various courses:

Eligibility for UG Courses (B.Tech):

  • Nationality: Candidates should be Indian Nationals.

  • Age Limit: General & OBC candidates must have born on or after 1st October 1993 and SC/ST/PwD candidates must have born on or after 1st October 1988.

  • Qualification: 12th or equivalent exam passed with 75% aggregate (65% marks for SC/ST & PwD).

  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 12th standard.

  • Examination: Must qualify the JEE Main & JEE Advanced 2018 examinations.

Eligibility for PG Courses (M.Tech/MS):

  • Nationality: Only Indian citizen can apply.

  • Age Limit: The age limit is 28 years as on the last date of receipt of application. Age relaxation will be given to SC/ST & PwD candidates.

  • Qualification: Students must hold BE/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.S. or equivalent degree securing at least 60%.

  • Examination: Must have valid score in GATE/JEST/UGC NET in the relevant area.

 

Syllabus

Physics:

Laws of Motion, Work, Energy, and Power, Rotational Motion, Properties of Solids and Liquids, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Oscillations and Waves, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices, Communication Systems.

Chemistry:

Some Basic Concepts in Chemistry, The States of Matter, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Chemical Thermodynamics, Redox Reactions and Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry.

Maths:

Sets, Relations, and Functions, Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations, Matrices and Determinants, Permutations and Combinations, Mathematical Induction, Binomial Theorem, Sequences and Series, Limit, Continuity, and Differentiability, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Coordinate Geometry, Three Dimensional Geometry, Vector Algebra, Statistics and Probability, Mathematical Reasoning, Physics and Measurement.
