The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has entrusted the responsibility of conducting CSIR-UGC NET in CBT mode to NTA. CSIR-UGC NET could also be a test being conducted to figure out the eligibility ‘for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship/Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by UGC. Online applications for JRF/NET are invited twice a year on all India basis through Press Notification of CSIR-UGC NET for JRF and LS/AP
CSIR and UGC provide Research Fellowships for training in methods of research under expert guidance of faculty members/scientists working in University Department/ National Laboratories and Institutions in various fields of Science. CSIR-UGC NET Fellowships are tenable in Universities/IITs/Post Graduate Colleges/Govt. Research Establishments including those of the CSIR, Research & Development establishments of recognized public or private sector industrial firms and other recognized institutions. Only bonafide Indian Citizens are eligible for the test. CSIR-UGC NET Fellowship is tenable in India. The programme is aimed toward National Science & Technology Human Resource Development.

Step 1: Register for CSIR NET 2020
To register online, candidates need to follow the steps mentioned below:

Click on the link available for filling the application form
Click on the New Registration button
Download the CSIR NET information brochure and read the instructions on the page carefully
Click on the checkbox at the bottom of the page and click on 'Click Here to Proceed' button. On clicking the button, CSIR NET registration form will open on the screen.

Step 4: Pay CSIR UGC NET application fee:
Lastly, candidates need to pay CSIR UGC NET 2020 application fee in online mode through debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI/paytm gateway. Candidates can make the payment through SBI MOPS/ICICI payment gateway/Paytm payment gateway. The category-wise CSIR NET application fee 2020 is mentioned below:

Once the fee is successfully paid, a confirmation page will be generated. Candidates need to print at least three copies of the confirmation page and retain it for future reference.
Exam Pattern:
CSIR UGC NET exam pattern is such that the question paper contains multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of 200 marks. The question paper is divided into three parts – A, B, and C. Each part contains a different number of questions. Total questions that candidates need to attempt in the exam also differ as per the subject chosen by the candidate. Candidates need to complete their respective paper in a duration of three hours.
The basic CSIR UGC NET eligibility criteria that candidates must fulfill are:
Candidates should obtain a degree in BTech/BE/BPharma/MBBS/BS (4 years)/Integrated BS-MS/MSc with minimum 55 per cent marks
To apply for JRF, candidates should be maximum 28 years in age as on December 1, 2019
There is no upper age limit to apply for the post of lectureship
